Beautiful work by Chris Soer, originally a painter from The Hague. He was educated at the Hague Academy and lived and worked mainly in The Hague and the surrounding area. Soer initially painted and drew in a naturalistic manner. From his hand came landscapes, beach and city views and still lifes. Later increasingly in an impressionistic style, such as more followers of The Hague School.

Chris Soer (1882, The Hague – 1961, The Hague) was a Dutch draughtsman and painter. He was educated at the Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten (Royal Academy of Fine Arts), The Hague. He belongs to the second generation of the Hague School. Initially painting in a naturalistic style, he began adopting an impressionistic style later on. He painted landscapes, cityscapes, still lifes, flower still lifes and winter landscapes. He was active in The Hague, but made several study trips, to Belgium, France and Germany. Soer was a teacher to Mies Biermasz, Cornelis Langbroek and Willem van Roon. He was a member of the Nederlandse Kunstkring in The Hague.
