- About the artist
Anke Birnie is a Dutch sculptor who was born in Doornspijk in 1943. She studied sculpture at the Artibus academy in Utrecht. She has been visiting many important exhibitions of renowned sculptors in the Netherlands and abroad. Although Birnie’s work is inspired by famous artists, especially Alberto Giacometti and Germaine Richier, she has developed her own typical style. She creates sculptures of standing figures in motion, classical inspired torsos and sculptures that are suspended in the air. Her figures usually have long limbs. Anke Birnie’s work is included in various corporate and private collections worldwide.
