With below the image a descriptive poem: Beau pays, òu fleurit une utile industrie Et dont les habitants peuvent tout leurs vie Suivre avec liberté leurs innocents desirs, On croiroit que chez toi l'eau se transforme en glace, Pour offrir un plus ample et plus commode espace A tous les Voyageurs, à tes divers plaisers. Freely translated: Beautiful land, where a bustling industry flourishes and where people can freely pursue their innocent desires throughout their lives. One would think that with them, water turns into ice so that there is more space and comfort for all travellers with their individual pleasures. Adriaen van Drever was a Dutch landscape and marine painter who was active around 1673 and must have been in England. However, it is not certain whether Van Drever is an invented artist and whether the man ever existed. Price: € 1.750,- (incl. frame)
