- About the artworkCor de Wolff was born on April 18, 1889 in Middelburg and died on June 9, 1963 in Amsterdam.
Initially he was a house painter.
As an artist he mainly concentrated on figure representations, street scenes and performances for the public. The painting for sale is not, obviously. He also worked a lot with batik (techniques) and designed wall hangings.

Another variant of this painting is known, with dark colors and tighter lines, auctioned in 2010 at Christies. This painting is signed and dated 1932.
Artiquair had the painting cleaned and a new layer of varnish applied. - About the artist
Cor de WOLFF (Middelburg 1889 - Amsterdam 1963)
De Wolff started his artistic career with batiks and woodcuts.
Later he turned to painting and practiced a wide variety of graphic techniques.
His favorite subjects were fairs, pubs, markets, etc., subjects in which many people are involved, often in an amusing way.
Much of his work is held by the Centraal Museum in Utrecht, but mainly by private collectors.
