    The painter Jan Voerman senior belonged to the group of 19th century artists called the 'Amsterdam impressionists'. His paintings, his watercolours in particular, are known for their sensitive atmosphere. This watercolour (signed lower right) is a good example of his widely acknowledged talent. Jan Voerman has his own museum in Hattum (Holland).

    Era un pittore olandese e viveva a Hattem (Gelderland). Era sposato con Anna Henriette Gezina Verkade (Anna) Verkade, figlia di Ericus Gerhardus Verkade, fondatore della fabbrica Verkade. Anche suo figlio, Jan Voerman junior, divenne pittore. Voerman Sr è noto per i suoi paesaggi sul fiume IJssel. Ad Hattem puoi trovare il Museo Voerman con una collezione di entrambi i pittori.
