- About the artist
I live in a small village in the Netherlands. It is called Bergschenhoek. I grew up there. Lots of lands and horizons. Earth mainly that attracted me and sky. The thin line between the sky and the earth is fantastic.
I also regularly visited the Zuid Hollandse islands such as Goeree Overflakkee. A lot of earth and skies. Landscapes inspire me. It becomes a landscape in my head. A Mindscape. I am always looking for the light in a landscape. I reflect it. My way. It's a matter of light and dark.
I am high sensitive! I see /hear things differently. That allows me to make what I make !!! My work therefore always has an impact. The aim is to touch people and reach their feelings. Let alone the world around us, the beauty but also the fragility of our earth.
In fact, I have been working as an artist for half a century. Drawing at a young age. Later painting. For a long time I was inspired by human vulnerability. This was expressed in the making of confrontational paintings with people who were wrong. I myself think that this is a necessary phase in my way of working. In my opinion, this is decisive in my further development. To endure, thereby situate and make my person whole.
I now find inspiration mainly in the world around me. For example, by depicting landscapes in my own expressive way. I work with bright and vibrant colors!
And clear black lines provide peace in the image and a harmonious whole.
The fragility and beauty of the earth, especially in view of the latest climatic developments, now plays an important role in my work. Yet another form of fragility.
My personal development and baggage shaped me as I am now. This allows me to devote myself completely to art.
