  Boucheron - A leading French jewelry firm, founded in 1858 in the Palais Royal, Paris, by Frédéric Boucheron (1830-1902) and now having its main establishment at 26 Place VendOme, Paris, with branches in London and elsewhere.Frédéric Boucheron was succeeded by his son Louis (1874-1959), in turn succeeded by his son Gerard (b. 1910), whose son Alain (b. 1948) is now active in the business. The London office, established in 1907, is at 180 New Bond St. In 1960the firm at the request of the Shah of Iran, set up in Tehran the display of the Royal Jewelry Collection.   Boucheron is een Frans juwelenhuis dat in 1858 werd opgericht door Frédéric Boucheron.

  De juwelier werkte met een breed scala aan goudsoorten en kostbare edelstenen zoals robijnen en peridots. Zijn juwelen werden geïnspireerd door motieven uit de natuur zoals de slang, die later het symbool van het huis werd. De eerste Boucheron boetiek werd in 1858 gevestigd in de Galerie de Valois in het Palais Royal in Parijs. In de daaropvolgende jaren opende Frédéric Boucheron een atelier en begon hij samen te werken met zijn neef, Georges Radius. Het spel met de vormen, de manipulaties van het materiaal en de combinaties van edelstenen hadden hun publiek gevonden tegen het einde van de 19de eeuw. Boucheron trok nu een clientèle aan van schrijvers, kunstenaars en vorsten.

  Toen Fédéric Boucheron in 1902 overleed, nam zijn zoon, Louis, het huis over. Als erfgenaam droeg hij bij tot de ontwikkeling van het merk, door verder te reiken dan Frankrijk alleen. Hij opende een filiaal in Moskou en ging ook een samenwerking aan met de jonge juwelier Pierre Sterlé. In 1954 nemen zijn kinderen, Fred en Gérard Boucheron, het merk over. Met behoud van de geërfde expertise, vestigden zij het merk in Japan tijdens de jaren 1970, in welke periode Jane Birkin beroemd poseerde met een Boucheron diamanten halsketting.

  Alain Boucheron werd hoofd van het bedrijf in 1971, en in 2000, nam de Gucci groep het Boucheron juwelenhuis over. Onder leiding van Jean-Christophe Bedos, werden nieuwe boetieks geopend over de hele wereld. In 2007 was Boucheron de eerste juwelier die een e-commerce winkel opende in Europa. In 2011 wordt Claire Choisne benoemd tot creatief directeur van het juwelenhuis aan de Place Vendôme. Na anderhalve eeuw is het juwelenhuis Boucheron uitgegroeid tot een belangrijke referentie van fijne juwelen en uurwerken.
