Jean Pezous was born in 1815 in France, into a modest family. In 1830 Pezous applied at the l'Ecole de Dessin de Toulon and was taken under the wings of Bernard Sénéguier. After his parents passed away, Pezous moved to Paris where he applied at the l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts.
