- Sobre arteAndré van der Vossen (1893–1963) created Paysage (ca. 1950), a compelling abstract work that reimagines the concept of landscape through modernist abstraction. Executed in colored paper on paper and measuring 40.0 x 58.0 cm, the composition juxtaposes vibrant red and deep black geometric forms intersected by fine linear elements. The bold red evokes energy and warmth, while the black creates a sense of grounding and contrast, reminiscent of post-war European abstraction.Signed in pencil with Van der Vossen’s distinctive monogram in the lower right, Paysage embodies the artist’s innovative vision. The interplay of color and line creates a dynamic structure that bridges natural inspiration with geometric precision, aligning Van der Vossen with movements such as Constructivism and De Stijl. The tension between spontaneity and order in the composition evokes parallels with works by Piet Mondrian and Jean Arp.This unique piece is framed in a minimalist wooden frame, enhancing its timeless elegance. As a pioneer of Dutch abstraction, Van der Vossen’s Paysage reflects his ability to synthesize natural elements with a modernist aesthetic, offering a profound interpretation of the landscape in the mid-20th century.
