At first, he took lessons from Giuliano Vanghi. From 1953 to 1959, he attended the Art Institute in Pesaro. Then he moved to London, where he became interested in Pop Art. In 1960, after an exhibition of his work at London's John Whibley Gallery, and after meeting a German girl, he left for Hamburg, where he entered the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (Academy of Fine Arts).
He remained in Hamburg throughout his life. In the 1970s, Bruni became well-known as a draftsman, lithographer, painter and sculptor in the international art world. He also became commercially successful in those years. In 1977, he received the International Senefeld Award for Lithography. Bruni was influenced by old Italian masters, German expressionists such as Otto Dix and George Grosz, Art Nouveau and Surrealism. A few examples of his works: Con Bicchiere/With a Glass, 1963 (pencil on grey paper); Metamorphosis, 1970 (lithography in four colours); Figure e Fiori/ Figures and Flowers, 1980 (sequence of five lithographs); Der Kuss /The Kiss, 2004 (bronze); La Sorella/The Sister, 2002 (bronze); Europa mit dem Stier/Europa with the Bull, 2001(marble).
